The story transports us to what is now China around 300 B.C., a time when the region is divided into seven kingdoms fighting for every inch of land against their neighbors. Continuous internal civil wars and clashes with clans that have their own way of life are also rampant. Shin is a war orphan living in the Kingdom of Qin, who has ended up as a slave. Alongside his friend Hyou, he dreams of becoming a great general like the legendary ones who led enormous armies. His life takes a turn the day they recruit Hyou as a double for Ei Sei, the King of Qin, and from there, a series of events unfold that lead him to join the army and live the same dream as his King: to unify the seven kingdoms into one, China. The wars that ensue are on a massive scale, with tens of thousands of soldiers, and we will meet dozens of characters from each kingdom who will play crucial roles, employing strategy, tactics, and pure instinct. Yasuhisa Hara's artwork, who was an assistant to and is a friend of Takehiko Inoue, undergoes a spectacular evolution and perfectly reflects both the grandeur and the horror, gore, and harshness of war. Through grand campaigns, each chapter leaves us wanting more in a perfectly woven story, full of epic moments that leave you wondering, how will they manage?
