Synopsis of the One-Shot Volume of Oda a Kirihito

At the end of the 1960s, Tokyo’s M University Hospital is confronted with a medical case as strange as it is disturbing: a patient develops an intense craving for raw meat, his body begins to degenerate and his hair grows at an alarming rate, until he loses almost all trace of his human appearance and takes on dog-like features. This mysterious condition, known as Monmo disease, sparks a tense debate among the doctors, who are unable to determine whether they are dealing with a virus, a local illness or something even harder to explain. To uncover its origin, Dr Kirihito Osanai is sent to the remote village of Inugamisawa on the island of Shikoku, where other undocumented cases may exist. However, his investigation will lead him into a far greater danger than expected, with consequences that could change his life forever.
