Synopsis of Volume 9 of Otherside Picnic

Sorao Kamikoshi is a shy but intensely curious young woman who becomes fascinated by rumours of paranormal activity. While following one of these leads, she discovers a mysterious doorway that transports her into another world entirely. Almost immediately after arriving, Sorao encounters a terrifying creature and realises that this strange place is far more dangerous than she could ever have imagined.

She is rescued by Toriko, another human who seems to be her complete opposite: tall, confident, fearless and determined to keep pushing deeper into the unknown. Toriko explains that she has been exploring this mysterious realm, which she calls the “Otherside”, in search of a missing friend. Unlike ordinary fantasy worlds, the Otherside is populated by bizarre entities born from ghost stories, internet creepypasta and urban legends, turning familiar rumours into very real threats.

Grateful for having been saved and increasingly fascinated by the mysteries surrounding this place, Sorao decides to accompany Toriko. Together, the two embark on a dangerous journey through unsettling landscapes and supernatural encounters where every new discovery could place their lives at risk. As they continue exploring, the bond between them gradually develops into something deeper than simple friendship.
