Synopsis of Volume 42 of Haikyu!!

Shoyo Hinata decides to dedicate himself to volleyball after being inspired by the legendary “Little Giant” while still at primary school. Despite his short stature, Hinata becomes fascinated by the idea that speed, timing and determination can allow a smaller player to dominate the court. That dream pushes him to form a team and compete, even though his lack of experience quickly becomes obvious.

During his final tournament in secondary school, Hinata's team suffers a crushing defeat at the hands of Tobio Kageyama, an exceptionally talented setter whose skill and confidence leave a lasting impression on him. Determined to one day defeat his new rival, Hinata joins the volleyball club when he enters high school, ready to begin his revenge. There is just one problem: Kageyama has joined the very same team.

Forced to work together, the two former rivals slowly discover that their completely different strengths can complement one another. Hinata's explosive speed and jumping ability combine with Kageyama's precise setting to create an attack capable of catching opponents completely off guard. Their partnership may be difficult, but it also gives both players the opportunity to reach a level neither could achieve alone.
