The story follows Shoyo Hinata, a passionate young student who becomes determined to play volleyball after watching the legendary “Little Giants” compete during his elementary school years. Despite his enthusiasm, his middle school team suffers a crushing defeat at the hands of Tobio Kageyama’s squad during their final tournament. Motivated by that loss, Hinata enters high school with one clear goal in mind: defeat Kageyama once and for all. However, fate has other plans waiting for him.
