Alice is a teenage girl who has recently moved to Tokyo and is still struggling to feel at home in her new surroundings. For some time, she has felt a strange fascination with the Moon and possesses an unusual sensitivity towards plants and animals, which she seems to understand almost instinctively. Her daily life is not made any easier by Rin, the young boy living next door who never misses an opportunity to tease her. Everything changes, however, when Alice is asked to look after him one evening and he accidentally falls from the balcony, leaving him in a coma.

When Rin finally wakes up, his personality seems completely different and he begins recalling experiences that do not belong to him. Soon afterwards, Alice also starts having disturbing dreams of a life she does not recognise as her own, and she discovers that others are experiencing the same mysterious phenomenon.
