Here comes the latest manga by the acclaimed author Taiyo Matsumoto, who in 2020 already won two Eisner Awards for Cats in the Louvre (published by ECC) and whose works Tekkon kinkreet and Ping Pong have achieved international fame and been adapted for film and animation. This dazzling work full of humanity and melancholy is the author's first work set in the manga industry. It tells the story of Shiosawa, an influential manga publisher who lives alone with his canary (which seems to talk). Shiosawa has just retired early after 30 years as a publisher, and is not sure what his next step will be. We will see what his new day-to-day life will be like, interacting with his former colleagues and the authors he used to take care of, now that he is free of work burdens. Of course, manga and publishing will remain an essential part of his life.
