Arkham Horror LCG: Children of Blood Expansion by Fantasy Flight Games is a small campaign expansion for Arkham Horror: The Card Game that introduces a new mystery stalking the streets of Arkham. Reports of disappearances, spilled blood and torn clothing begin to pile up, yet neither victims nor culprits can be found. The investigators soon realise that something dangerous is hunting after dark. As usual in Arkham, following the clues may be essential; remaining entirely human by the end of the investigation is a considerably less certain outcome.

This expansion tells its story across three connected scenarios. Investigators must track strange creatures through the city streets, descend into underground locations and infiltrate an elegant gathering in Northside while uncovering the identity of whoever is pulling the strings. Its compact format delivers a complete campaign in fewer scenarios than traditional cycles while retaining the branching narrative, choices and consequences associated with the LCG.

The major new feature in Children of Blood is the introduction of Blood tokens. These new chaos tokens can enter or leave the chaos bag depending on decisions and events during the campaign. When drawn during a skill test, a Blood token applies a penalty and forces the investigator to draw another token, meaning several Blood tokens can chain together. If the investigator then fails the test, one Blood token may become sealed on that investigator, making certain encounter cards and enemies increasingly dangerous.

The scenarios also change depending on the selected difficulty. Locations, enemies and even encounter sets may differ between Easy, Standard, Hard and Expert, meaning that replaying the campaign involves more than simply facing higher numerical values. This gives the expansion particularly strong replayability and encourages groups to revisit the mystery to discover how Arkham changes when the night becomes even less forgiving.

The campaign also introduces a special reward that can be unlocked after successfully completing the story. This reward allows investigators to bring part of the Blood mechanic into other scenarios and campaigns, granting considerable power in exchange for accepting a distinctly monstrous transformation. As is often the case in the Mythos, gaining strength and remaining entirely human are not always compatible objectives.

Designed for 1 to 4 players aged 14 and up, Children of Blood is especially suitable for groups already enjoying Arkham Horror LCG who want a shorter, highly replayable campaign built around new risk-and-reward mechanics. A copy of the Arkham Horror: The Card Game core set is required to play.
