Clank!: Catacombs Board Game by Devir is a standalone adventure in the Clank! universe, designed by Paul Dennen, combining deck building, dungeon exploration and constant risk management. This time, players descend into the catacombs of the skeletal dragon Umbrok Vessna to steal treasures, free prisoners, uncover secrets and, with a bit of luck, escape alive before the beast fully awakens.

Unlike other titles in the series, Clank!: Catacombs does not use a fixed board. The dungeon is built during the game with modular tiles, revealed as players move through its corridors. This makes every expedition feel different, with unpredictable routes, new connections, magical portals, shrines, haunted rooms and dangers that force players to rethink their strategy as the game unfolds. Going deeper may bring greater rewards, but it also makes returning safely much harder.

The core of the game is deck building. Each player begins with a basic deck of cards and improves it throughout the game by acquiring new cards from the market. These cards allow players to move, fight monsters, gain gold, trigger special effects and score points at the end of the game. The challenge is to build an efficient deck while staying focused on the main objective: steal a valuable artefact and return to safety before being eliminated.

The iconic Clank! system remains central to the tension. Whenever you make noise, you add cubes of your colour to the bag, increasing your chances of taking damage when the dragon attacks. The greedier you are, the more treasure you can collect, but the closer you get to disaster. This push your luck mechanism creates dramatic moments, especially when a player decides to keep exploring instead of escaping with what they already have.

Recommended for 2 to 4 players aged 13 and up, with games lasting between 45 and 90 minutes, Clank!: Catacombs is ideal for players who enjoy dungeon crawlers, deck building and highly replayable adventures. It works well both for players already familiar with the Clank! series and for newcomers looking for a more modular, unpredictable and adventure-driven version.
