This is a fully cooperative board game in which one to six players take the roles of survivors attempting to complete missions while exploring buildings, searching for equipment, rescuing civilians and eliminating endless waves of zombies. The infected are controlled automatically through a streamlined deck of cards, allowing the group to focus on tactical decisions, resource management and coordinating every move together.

One of Zombicide's signature mechanics is its character progression system. As survivors eliminate zombies they gain experience and unlock increasingly powerful abilities, gradually transforming into unstoppable zombie hunters. However, this comes at a price: stronger survivors attract tougher enemies. The better the team performs, the more dangerous the game becomes, creating constant tension from beginning to end.

Second Edition introduces revised rules, smoother gameplay and numerous balance improvements that make every session faster and more intuitive. The core box includes 25 replayable missions built around modular map tiles, allowing scenarios to change dramatically from one game to another. Every mission presents different objectives, layouts and unexpected situations that encourage players to adapt their strategy instead of relying on the same plan every time.

The game features 12 survivors, including both adults and children, each with unique skills and development paths.
