Its premise is simple: a bunch of colourful little monkeys have settled comfortably in your hand, and you must get rid of them before your rivals do. From the moment you receive your starting hand, you must observe which combinations have appeared, which cards are adjacent and how you can use them to play valid sets. On your turn, you may play one or more cards of the same value, as long as they are next to each other in your hand and beat the combination currently on the table. You may also draw from the central deck, decide whether to add that card to your hand, discard it or immediately use it if it fits the so-called law of Jungo. Some cards also have double values, adding flexibility and allowing unexpected plays when everything seems blocked.

The mechanics combine trick-taking, deck exploration, hand management and a touch of direct interaction that can disrupt other players’ plans at just the right moment. The objective is to be the first player to empty your hand, but to do so you must decide when to play a strong combination, when to save cards for later and when drawing may be your best option. It can be learned in just a few minutes, but playing well requires close attention to the order of your hand.

Recommended for 3 to 5 players aged 10 and up, with games lasting around 15 minutes, Jungo is ideal for players looking for a light, portable game with more strategy than it first appears to have.
