Synopsis of Volume 8 of Homunculus

Susumu Nakoshi, a 34-year-old man, chooses to leave behind his prestigious job and adopts a nomadic lifestyle in his car, spending his days in a park frequented by the homeless. During his stay, he encounters Manabu Ito, a medical student in search of participants for a unique surgical procedure called trepanation. Initially reluctant, the promise of a significant financial reward persuades Susumu to undergo the trepanation. Post-surgery, Susumu finds himself viewing the world in a disturbing manner, able to glimpse the hidden traumas and concerns in the minds of those around him.
